Contents
  • Countries and currencies: set up markets in admin under Settings › Markets. With more than one, the footer and the phone menu show a country/currency selector. Prices convert through Shopify, and so does the price per ml.
  • Languages: Decant ships in English. Add languages under Settings › Languages and translate with Shopify's free Translate & Adapt app, which covers the theme's words, your section text, your settings and your metafields. With more than one language published, a language selector appears beside the country selector.
  • Changing the theme's own words: in Online Store, open the theme's menu and choose Edit default theme content to change fixed words, such as "Start with the smallest size."
  • Free shipping messages show only to shoppers paying in your store's currency, because the amount can't be converted reliably.
  • Unit prices use the same unit in every market (chapter 8).
  • Discount codes with a fixed amount are converted at checkout at the current rate (chapter 9).
  • Option names: the theme matches them as the shopper sees them. If you translate them, add the translated names to Size option names and Concentration option names: Size, Taille.
  • Size numbers: bottles and sets read the number in the value, so keep it in a translated value: 10 ml, Coffret de 5.
  • Concentration notes match the value as the shopper sees it. Add a line for each translated value.
  • The finder: Families and custom.family must still match. Translate the section's Families the same way you translate the metafield's values. The seasons the finder understands are English words, so keep custom.seasons in English if you can, and let shoppers read the translated labels the finder prints.
  • The set's property: Cart property name is your setting and stays the same in every language.
  • Right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Hebrew mirror the layout, including the back-to-top button's side. Shop the counter's hotspots stay where you put them on the photo, because the photo isn't mirrored.
  • Countdowns are absolute moments: every shopper counts down to the same instant.
