Shopify theme for perfume and fragrance shops · Version 1.0.0

Decant

A theme for independent and niche perfume houses, decant and sample sellers, oil‑perfume and attar makers, and fragrance discovery‑box brands. It’s built for a shopper who researches, and it answers what they actually ask: can I try a few first, what does a ml really cost, how long does it last, how far does it carry, and which one is for me? It looks like a quiet perfume counter, all glass, light and paper: thin vertical rules, a light serif, and one shape everywhere, a paper blotter strip cut to a point with a wet tint at its tip.

One theme, four color palettes.

Pick one in Theme settings › Colors. Change any single color to make an exception.

Flacon. A pale glass page with petrol ink and buttons, and white paper strips. The default, for decant and sample sellers and discovery‑box brands.

Amber. A honey page with oxblood ink and buttons, and cream paper. The Attar preset’s palette, for oil perfumes and attars.

Oud. A brown page with cream ink and rose‑gold buttons. The one dark palette, and the Parfumerie preset’s, for a niche perfume house.

Neroli. A white page and bitter‑orange buttons with dark labels. It has no preset of its own: pick it in Theme settings on any preset.

Switch at any time

The palettes are one setting, not separate installs. Three are light and one is dark, and each sets every storefront color at once. You can override colors one at a time.

Checked for contrast

Every text and control color in the four palettes is measured against WCAG AA contrast on every ground it can sit on. A color you set yourself is yours to check.

Paper stays paper

A strip is paper in every palette, so it always carries dark print, even on Oud. The tint at its tip belongs to the scent’s family and stays the same on every palette.

Presets

Three presets, one theme.

Each preset is a complete starting store, with its own home page, palette and fonts. Every section, block and setting is in all three.

The Decant preset’s home page on desktop.

Decant

For decant and sample sellers and discovery‑box brands, with a strip‑window hero (“Find your scent, one sample at a time”), the discovery set, the fragrance finder, best sellers, family tiles, how decanting works in steps, customer quotes and a newsletter.

Flacon palette · Halant and Schibsted Grotesk

The Parfumerie preset’s home page on desktop.

Parfumerie

For a niche perfume house selling full bottles and a story, with a hero (“A house of slow perfume, made by hand”), image with text, the perfumes, a featured product with its scent profile, the discovery set, notebook quotes, press logos, the journal and a newsletter.

Oud palette · Baskervville and Schibsted Grotesk

The Attar preset’s home page on desktop.

Attar

For oil perfumes and attars, with roll‑on bottles and no sprays, a hero (“Pure oils, aged in small batches”), oils as family tiles, most worn, the discovery set, the finder, how to wear an oil in steps, image with text, customer quotes and a newsletter.

Amber palette · Ovo and Schibsted Grotesk

Made for shops that sell perfume

What a ml costs, how long it lasts and which one to try.

All four are built in, with no paid apps, and they run on your ordinary product options and on metafields you create once in Shopify’s settings. Some steps stay yours: the price per ml needs a Shopify unit price on each variant or one simple variant metafield, the discovery set on your home page shows once you choose your set product, and a scent needs a family to appear in the finder.

The size picker on the Fig Leaf product page: $42.00 with $4.20 per ml beside it, pointed EDP, EDT and Extrait chips with EDP chosen and EDT struck through, four bottles on a shelf at 1, 5, 10 and 50 ml, drawn to scale with their prices, the line “10 ml · about 150 sprays · $4.20 per ml”, an Add to bag · $42.00 button and “Not sure yet? Try 1 ml for $6.00.”

01

Price per ml and sizes to scale

Your Size option becomes bottles standing on a shelf in true relative size, so a 1 ml vial is tiny beside a 50 ml flacon. Concentration becomes pointed chips, with a line explaining each one. Under them a size line updates as shoppers choose: “10 ml · about 150 sprays · $4.20 per ml”. The price per ml sits beside the price, on cards (“from $4.20 per ml”), in the bag and in the compare table, from Shopify’s unit price or one simple variant metafield. Under the button: “Not sure yet? Try 1 ml for $6.00.”

The discovery set builder: “Pick the scents, we fill the vials”, Set of 3, Set of 5 and Set of 8 tabs with their prices, and a rack of eight paper strips, each with a scent’s notes, a bottle and a stepper. Three strips are dipped in their family colors and one is sold out. Beside the rack, a Your set tray shows three filled vials and two empty ones, “3 of 5”, “2 to go” and an Add 2 more button.

02

Discovery sets

Shoppers fill a set of samples from a rack of paper strips. Each pick dips its strip in the scent’s family color and fills a vial on the tray beside it. The count must match the set, with “3 of 5” and “Add 2 more” until it does, then Add set to bag with the price in it. Set sizes are your own variants, priced per set, so no discount app is needed. You choose the collection, how many of one scent a shopper can take, and whether strips show each scent’s image. The set goes to the bag as one line, with every scent listed for you to fill from (“Samples: Fig Leaf · 2× Smoked Vetiver · Tonka Smoke”). A set can’t reach the bag unfilled: on cards and in quick view it’s a link to its own page.

The scent profile: top, heart and base notes on three paper strips with tinted tips, five accord bars from Green at 82% to Smoky at 22%, longevity of about 8 hours on a 12‑hour ruler, Moderate sillage on a scale from Intimate to Enormous, chips for Spring, Autumn, Day and Evening, and two scents to layer it with.

03

Scent profile

Longevity on a 12‑hour ruler and sillage from Intimate to Enormous, with top, heart and base notes on three paper strips, accord bars, seasons and times of day, and up to three scents to layer it with. Each part shows only when it has data, so a product with none stays clean, and you can fill in your catalog a little at a time.

The fragrance finder on a dark petrol band: “Three questions, six scents worth trying”, family chips with Fresh and Woody ticked, Balanced chosen under How loud and Autumn under When you’ll wear it, and six scents ranked from a 95% match down to a 49% match.

04

Fragrance finder

Three questions (which families, how loud, when you’ll wear it) rank up to 50 of your own scents as the shopper taps, each with a match percentage. It runs in the page, with no quiz app, no account and no email. It’s a section, so it can sit on your home page or a page of its own. It stays hidden until a scent has a family.

You’ll need
A Shopify store on any plan that can publish a theme, and a computer to upload it (phones can’t upload theme files). Collection filters, including a Family filter, and complementary product recommendations need Shopify’s free Search & Discovery app. The installments message under the price needs Shop Pay Installments switched on, where Shopify offers it. Subscriptions need a subscriptions app, and star ratings a reviews app. Other languages need Shopify’s free Translate & Adapt app, and wholesale customers need Shopify B2B, on plans that include it.
Your data
The size picker runs on your ordinary product options, called Size and Concentration or names you set in Theme settings. The scent profile, card notes and finder read product metafields you create once in Shopify’s settings, with no app, and the user guide gives every exact key and type, step by step. The price per ml needs a Shopify unit price on each variant or one variant metafield. Stock on a discovery set is counted on the set, not on the scents in it, so keep an eye on your vials yourself. A line promising set credit is optional and only words: if you offer credit, you create the discount code yourself. There is no “inspired by” or “dupe of” field, on purpose, because naming other brands is a trademark risk. The theme doesn’t send email: the newsletter wording is demo text, so send it from Shopify Email or your email app. The presets’ sample words, such as claims about perfumes, shipping and returns, quotes and press names, are demo text, so use real reviews and only promise what your store actually offers.
