"Will it fit?" is the question that stops most furniture orders. Atelier answers it three ways: every card carries the piece's size on a dimension line, every product page draws the piece to scale beside a person, and shoppers can check it against their own doorway and room.

The dimension line on cards

Under each card image, a thin line with oblique ticks carries the size: "W 240 · D 98 · H 72 cm", "Ø 45 · H 50 cm" for a round piece, or "W 240 · H 72 cm" without a depth. On phones it shortens to "240 × 98 × 72". It reads the selected variant's measurements, then the product's (chapter 7). Theme settings › Product cards › Dimensions shows it Always, On hover or Off.

The hero annotation

The Hero section can draw a dimension line across the piece in its image, with a label such as "Arc lounge chair, 78 cm" in a small paper chip. Choose the hero's Product to fill the label from its title and its custom.width (or custom.diameter) Dimension metafield, in that metafield's unit, or type your own Annotation label. Line it up with the piece using Line starts at, Line ends at and Line height on the image (percentages of the image), and pick a Dark or Light tone to suit the photograph. With Draw dimension lines in on, the line draws itself outwards once when the hero first shows.

The Dimensions section

Every preset's product template has a Dimensions section under the product: a stone band with the heading "Drawn to scale" and two columns.

On the left, the drawing sheet. The front elevation and the side elevation, drawn to one scale on a ground line, with the width and depth lines under them, the height line beside the front, and the seat and arm heights beside the side. A person is drawn beside the piece for scale, and shoppers can hide them with Show a person for scale. A round piece shows its front only, with its width marked Ø. Each view is your line drawing (custom.drawing_front, custom.drawing_side), or, without one, a clean outline of the piece's box with a dashed line at the seat height and legs when it has a leg clearance. Under the sheet, Downloads lists the files in custom.downloads: spec sheets, CAD drawings, 3D models.

On the right, the measurements. The product's name with a cm / in switch, then a table of Width, Depth, Height (or Diameter and Height), Seat height, Arm height, Seat depth, Leg clearance and Weight (from the variant's shipping weight), showing only the rows the piece has. Add Spec row blocks (up to eight) for more rows, such as Cushion fill or Frame; each reads a metafield or shows a typed value (chapter 5). Then Will it fit? (below).

When a shopper picks another variant, the drawing, the table and the fit check redraw for it. The unit a shopper picks is remembered, and every card's dimension line on later pages follows it.

The section is only allowed on product templates. A product without a width (or diameter) and a height shows nothing; in the editor it shows a note asking for the metafields.

How Will it fit works

Shoppers type three measurements, in the unit shown: Doorway width, Space width and Space depth. Results appear as they type, as sentences with a check or a cross:

  • The doorway. The theme takes the piece's smallest side (depth, height, width or, when you set custom.diagonal_depth, the diagonal), adds the Doorway clearance, and compares it with the doorway. The sentence says how it goes through: "Fits through the door on its back: it needs 74 cm and you have 80 cm." or "Too big for the door by 4 cm, even on its back. Ask us about removable legs." The ways are "carried straight through" (depth), "on its back" (height), "on its side" (width) and "tilted on its diagonal".
  • The space. With both space fields filled, it checks the piece as placed and turned side-on: "Fits the space with 42 cm to spare across and 16 cm in depth.", "Fits if you turn it side-on, with 6 cm to spare.", or "Too wide for the space by 12 cm." (or too deep).
  • When both pass, a note reminds them to leave 60 to 90 cm in front of the piece to walk past.

Will it fit needs a width, depth and height (or a diameter and height). It is a guide, not a promise: stairs, corners and lifts matter too, so link the Help link to your delivery page or contact form.
