Under the product, the Product details section prints what a careful shopper checks before buying something they'll light or put on their skin. On wide screens it has two columns: the burn label on the left, and the care, safety and other rows on the right (one column when there's no burn label).

The burn label

The burn label is the Spec table block in its Paper label style: a notched paper label with the kicker "On the label" and the heading "Burn and care", a big feature row ("50 hours of burn time") between two rules, then one row per fact with a small icon, the name, a dotted leader and the value: Wax · Soy and coconut blend, Wick · Cotton, lead-free, Vessel · Amber glass, reusable, Net weight · 220 g, Dimensions · 8 × 9 cm.

Each row is a Spec row block reading one metafield: the selected variant's when it has one, else the product's (chapter 7). The presets ship these rows:

PresetRows (metafield)
Wick and VesperBurn time (custom.burn_time, unit hours, the feature row), Wax (custom.wax), Wick (custom.wick), Vessel (custom.vessel), Net weight (custom.net_weight), Dimensions (custom.dimensions)
Lather ("In the bar")Cure time (custom.cure_time, unit weeks, the feature row), Oils (custom.oils), Scented with (custom.essential_oils), Net weight (custom.net_weight), Dimensions (custom.dimensions)

A row with no value is hidden, so one template can serve candles and soap: a bar of soap simply shows no Wick or Vessel row. With no rows to show at all, the label hides.

Spec row settings:

SettingWhat it does
LabelThe row's name ("Wax")
Product metafieldThe metafield's namespace and key, such as custom.wax, from Settings › Custom data › Products. A variant metafield with the same namespace and key wins for that variant. Lists of text, yes/no values, measurements and dates are formatted for the shopper's language; weight, volume and dimension metafields print with their unit ("220 g").
ValueThe fallback: used when the variant's and the product's metafield are both empty. A typed value shows on every product that uses this template.
UnitShown after the value, such as hours or weeks. A unit of "hours" reads "50 hours of burn time" on the feature row. Leave it empty for weight, volume and dimension metafields, which include their unit.
IconNone, Flame, Clock, Wax, Wick, Jar, Scale, Ruler or Leaf
Show as the large feature rowThe first feature row with a value prints large. Put it first in the list.
Editor sampleShown in the theme editor only, tagged "Sample", when the product has no value, so you can see the label before your data is in

To add a row of your own (melt pool, throw, diffuser life, fragrance load), create the product metafield in Settings › Custom data › Products, add a Spec row to the Spec table and type its namespace and key into Product metafield.

Care and safety

The Care and safety block (in the Product details section on every preset) is two rows that open and close:

  • Candle care (open by default): the care steps as a list with flame bullets. The default text is "Trim the wick to 5 mm before each burn.", "Let the first burn reach the edges, about 3 hours.", "Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time." and "Never leave a burning candle unattended." A product with a Care instructions metafield (custom.care_instructions) shows its own text instead, under the generic heading "Care" (the Heading over a product's own care text setting), so a soap with its own care text is never headed "Candle care".
  • Safety and allergens (closed by default): an optional warning line in a highlighted box with a generic warning triangle (such as "Contains coumarin, linalool and citral. May produce an allergic reaction."), then the product's Safety and allergens metafield (custom.safety_info), or the block's Safety text when the product has none.

With no safety text, no metafield and no warning line, the safety row is left out for shoppers (the theme editor shows a sample, tagged "Sample"). The theme shows only the generic warning triangle, never a CLP hazard pictogram: if your products must show one, add the pictogram as an image in the safety rich text. The theme displays what you write; check which statements your market requires on the product page and the label.

Selling candles and soap together? Give each soap its own Care instructions metafield and it shows under "Care", not "Candle care". For soap-specific default text and headings without metafields, make a second product template for soap (Online Store › Themes › Customize, then the template menu › Create template, based on Default product), set its Care heading to "Soap care" and its care text, and assign that template to your soap products.

Ingredients and other rows

The presets end the Product details section with a Collapsible row headed "Ingredients". A row with no content is hidden from shoppers (the theme editor shows a note in its place), so the row appears once you fill it: either type the content, or (better) create a product metafield such as custom.ingredients (Rich text, or Multi-line text) and connect it to the row's Content as a dynamic source, so each product shows its own list and products without one show no row. Remove the row if you don't need it. Add more Collapsible rows for shipping, refills or a scent story; they draw as the same paper rows as Care and safety.
