Theme settings
Chapter 2 of the Sprinkle user guide.
Open the theme editor, then the Theme settings icon. The groups below appear in this order. Everything here applies to the whole store.
Colours
Colour palette sets every storefront colour at once. It offers Strawberry (the default), Buttercream, Pistachio and Cocoa.
| Palette | Page | Bands and panels | Colour block | Buttons on the block | Ink | Accent | Used by |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strawberry | Vanilla #fff6e9 | #fbe8d3 | Deep strawberry #b01140 | Butter #ffd978 | Chocolate #4b2a1f | #b4123f | The Sprinkle preset |
| Buttercream | Ivory #fffbf0 | #f7efd9 | Deep teal #0b5f61 | Butter #ffe08a | Dark teal #23403f | #0b5f61 | The Tier preset. No pink at all, for wedding cake makers. |
| Pistachio | Pale pistachio #f1f6e2 | #e2ecc9 | Raspberry #a30f4f | Pale pistachio #d6eca8 | Aubergine #3a2230 | #a30f4f | The Patisserie preset |
| Cocoa | Dark chocolate #2a1510 | #432a22 | Sugar pink #f78fab | Chocolate #2a1510 | Warm cream #f3e3d6 | Pink #ff9db5 | No preset. A dark shop with chocolate labels on pink. |
Each palette also has two colours you can't set yourself: Icing, the pale band and shelf trim, and the board, the darkest band, used by the announcement bar and the footer. Every text and control colour in the four palettes has been measured against every ground it can sit on, and meets the contrast floors for text (4.5:1) and for controls (3:1). Sprinkle keeps pale pink off every button, border and focus ring for that reason.
The settings under the palette override one colour at a time. Leave them blank to follow the palette. A colour you set overrides the palette until you clear it, and colours you set are yours to check for contrast: the measurements above no longer apply to them.
| Header | Setting | What it colours |
|---|---|---|
| Page | Page background | The page itself |
| Body text | Paragraphs | |
| Headings, names and prices | Headlines, product names and prices | |
| Secondary text | Ledes, helper text and meta lines | |
| Faint text | The quietest text: struck-out prices and closed days | |
| Panels and fields | Header, drawers and fields | The header, drawers, fields and the doily behind large rounds |
| Bands and panels | Surface bands, the order-ahead panel, the allergens panel and the ground behind images while they load | |
| Controls | Control borders | Field, select and checkbox borders |
| Accent | Primary buttons, links and selected states | |
| Sale and errors | Sale prices, sale seals and error messages | |
| Blocks | Text on accent buttons | Labels on accent fills: the primary button, the bag count, the selected calendar day |
| Colour block | The big colour field: the hero, the custom cakes promo, the newsletter and the mix box | |
| Text on the colour block | Text on that field | |
| Buttons on the colour block | Buttons, selected states and the focus ring on the colour block |
Typography
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Heading font | Platypi ExtraBold Italic | Headlines, the text logo and step numbers. Product names use the same family at 700, upright, when it has that cut. A face with only one cut, such as Gloock or Gilda Display, is used as it is. |
| Heading size | 100% (90 to 120) | Scales every headline. Each preset sets its own. |
| Body font | Red Hat Text | Everything you read and press: text, navigation, buttons, prices and labels |
| Base text size | 17px (15 to 20) | The size of body text |
The fonts come from Shopify's font library, so there's nothing to upload. Platypi's fat italic is a lot of the theme's character: if you change it, try a face with some weight behind it.
Layout
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Page width | Medium | Narrow, Medium or Wide |
| Page margin | 48px (16 to 80) | The space at each side of the page on large screens. Under 990px it is 20px. |
Navigation, Brand, and Motion and effects
- Navigation: Show back-to-top button (on): a round button that appears after shoppers scroll down one screen. Position: Left (the setting's default) or Right (what the presets use). It is mirrored for right-to-left languages. Pick the side opposite your chat button.
- Brand: Use a custom logo (off: the shop name shows as a text wordmark in the heading font), Logo, Logo width (180px, 80 to 320, with a custom logo) and Favicon (32 x 32px recommended).
- Motion and effects: treats tip on hover and a box bursts once when it fills. Nothing loops, and all motion follows the reduced motion setting on the visitor's device. Show sprinkles (on): scatters a few sprinkles either side of the hero, adds a small mark to eyebrows and lets the mix box burst when it fills. Hidden on phones.
Commerce
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Free delivery over | 0 | Your store's real free-shipping threshold, in its currency. Leave it at 0 unless you offer free shipping. Above 0, the buy box adds "Free delivery over $80." under the add button, and the bag shows a progress bar ("Add $12.00 for free delivery.", then "You've got free delivery."). Both show only to customers shopping in your store's currency. |
| Show currency code | Off | Prints the currency code beside every price |
This setting only changes the theme's messages. The free delivery itself is a rate you set in Settings › Shipping and delivery.
Product cards
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Image shape | Cookie | Cookie is a fluted round. Plate is a 28px rounded square, for tall side-on cake photos. |
| Show lead time | On | Shows "Order 2 days ahead" on cards while order ahead is on (chapter 8) |
| Show quick view button | Off | A Quick look pill on the round, which opens the product's media, options and buy buttons in a panel without leaving the page |
| Show quick add button | Off (on in all three presets) | The pill button under the card (below). Products without options go straight to the bag. Products with options, a required subscription plan or a gift card recipient open quick view. |
| Show swatches | Off | Shows the values of the first option that has swatches, such as Colour |
| Swatches before "+" count | 5 (2 to 8) | With swatches on |
| Show second image on hover | Off (on in all three presets) | On devices with a mouse, shows the product's second image while the card is hovered or focused. Products with one image don't change. |
| Show compare checkbox | Off | Shoppers tick up to 3 products and see them side by side on the comparison page. Stays hidden until a page using the page.compare template is chosen below. |
| Comparison page | Empty | Create a page in Online Store › Pages, set its theme template to page.compare, and choose it here. A page with another template is ignored, and cards show no Compare. |
| Show "Only 3 left" at or under | 5 (0 to 20) | Products tracked at or under this stock get a low stock seal. Set 0 to turn it off. |
The card has no box. A fluted round stands on the shared display shelf, with a seal on its lower right if one applies. Under the shelf come the name, dietary chips, swatches if they're on, the price, the lead line and the button. On phones cards sit two to a row. The whole card is one link to the product.
The button under the card gives each product the action that can actually buy it. It only shows with Show quick add button on:
| The product | The button | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| One variant, nothing to choose | Add to bag (Pre-order for a product tagged pre-order) | Adds it without leaving the page |
| Options, a required subscription plan or a gift card | Choose options | Opens quick view |
| Tagged with the Cake builder tag | Start your cake | Goes to the product page, because the builder doesn't run in quick view |
| Tagged with the Mix box tag | Choose flavours | Goes to the product page, because a box is filled there and never from quick view. |
| Sold out | Tell me when | Goes to the product page and its back-in-stock request |
Seals are small fluted rounds on the lower right of the card's image, and a pill after the price on the product page. A card shows one, the first of these that applies:
| Seal | Shows when |
|---|---|
| Sold out | Nothing can be bought |
| Pre-order | The product has the tag pre-order (or preorder) |
| Save $6 | The variant has a compare-at price above its price |
| Only 3 left | The variant is tracked, stops selling at zero, and is at or under Show "Only 3 left" at or under |
| New | The product has the tag new |
| Best seller | The product has the tag best-seller |
To change a word on the storefront, such as "Choose options", go to Online Store › Themes › … › Edit default theme content and search for it.
Order ahead
The settings behind the date picker in the bag. Chapter 8 explains how they work together.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Turn on order ahead | On | Off, everything disappears: the panel in the bag, the header pill, the hero line, lead notes and the checkout gate |
| Offer pickup | On | The Pickup choice in the bag |
| Offer delivery | On | The Delivery choice in the bag. With both on, shoppers choose; with one on, the choice hides. With both off, order ahead is off. |
| Default lead time | 2 d (0 to 30) | Used when a product has no custom.lead_days metafield |
| Daily order cutoff | 2 pm | Orders after this time count from the next day, in the store time zone. No cutoff, or any hour from 6 am to 10 pm. |
| Store time zone | Sydney | Dates are worked out in this zone, wherever the shopper is. A list of 32 cities. |
| Other time zone | Empty | Overrides the list, for example Asia/Singapore. Leave blank to use the list. |
| Closed days and dates | Monday, Tuesday | One per line: a weekday, 2026-12-25, or 2026-12-24 to 2026-12-27 |
| Furthest date shoppers can pick | 60 d (14 to 180, in steps of 2) | How far ahead the calendar reaches |
| Pickup time slots | 9 am to 11 am, 11 am to 1 pm, 1 pm to 3 pm | One per line. Leave blank for no time slot. |
| Delivery time slots | Morning, Afternoon | One per line. Leave blank for no time slot. |
| Extra days for delivery | 0 d (0 to 7) | Added to the first date when Delivery is chosen |
| Require a date before checkout | On | Check out stays off until a valid date is chosen, plus a slot when there are slots |
| Hide Buy it now and express buttons | On | They skip the bag, so they skip the date |
| Heading in the bag | "When should we have it ready?" | The panel's heading |
| Show next pickup in the header | On | The Next pickup pill |
| Next pickup link | Empty | Where the pill leads. Leave blank to open the bag. |
Cake builder
Cake builder tag (custom-cake): products with this tag show the cake builder, read "Start your cake" on cards and skip quick view. Capitals don't matter. The builder itself is a block on the product page (chapter 9).
Mix-and-match box
Mix box tag (mix-box): products with this tag sell only through the Mix-and-match box. They lose the variant picker and buy buttons on their page, read "Choose flavours" on cards and skip quick view. Capitals don't matter. Assign them the product.mix-box template (chapter 10).
Allergens and dietary
Sprinkle reads dietary and allergen details from product metafields in the custom namespace (chapter 7). Chips and statements show what you enter: you're responsible for them being accurate (chapter 11).
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen statement | "Made in a kitchen that handles nuts." | Shown with every allergen statement and in the footer |
| When no allergens are listed | "Allergens not listed. Please ask us before ordering." | Shown on any product with no allergens listed, so silence never reads as "contains none" |
| Dietary chips on cards | 3 (0 to 6) | Set 0 to hide them. Any more show as "+2". |
| Dietary labels, in chip order | Gluten free, Vegan, Nut free, Egg free, Dairy free, Halal | One per line. A value that isn't listed still shows, at the end. |
Customer accounts and Social media
- Customer accounts: Customer account menu (the
customer-account-main-menumenu): the links in the header's account panel. Leave it empty to use the menu Shopify creates for customer accounts. - Social media: Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Threads. Links appear as round icons in the footer.
