The three zips are the same theme. A preset only decides the starting palette, heading font, a few settings, the words, the home page, the page templates, and the header and footer, and you can change all of them afterwards. Products, photos and demo text are not included: a fresh install shows your own products, and sections that need a product or collection show placeholders or samples in the theme editor until you choose one.
Presets
| Preset | For | Palette | Fonts | Home page, in order |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sprinkle | Cookie and cupcake shops, home bakers | Strawberry (vanilla page, deep strawberry blocks, chocolate ink) | Platypi ExtraBold Italic headings, Red Hat Text body | A Display case hero ("Baked fresh, made to order", with Order cookies, Start your cake and the next pickup line), the Mix-and-match box ("Build a box of 6 or 12"), Best sellers (8 products, with Gluten free, Vegan and Nut free chips), a custom cakes promo ("Celebration cakes, your way", with three facts), "How ordering works" in three numbered steps, dietary tiles ("Something for everyone": Gluten free, Vegan, Nut free), testimonials ("Kind words from our regulars"), pickup details with opening hours ("Find us at the side door") and the newsletter ("First dibs on the weekend bake") |
| Tier | Custom celebration and wedding cake makers | Buttercream (ivory page, deep teal blocks, butter icing) | Gloock headings, Red Hat Text body | A Display case hero ("Your cake, drawn up with you"), the cake builder in a Featured product section ("Build your cake"), a gallery of tiles in scalloped frames ("Recent cakes": Weddings, Birthdays, Christenings), "How it works" in three steps, testimonials ("From happy couples"), an FAQ ("Before you ask") and an enquiry form on a colour block ("Tell us about your day", with event date and guest count fields) |
| Patisserie | Macaron and patisserie shops | Pistachio (pale pistachio page, raspberry blocks, aubergine ink) | Gilda Display headings, Red Hat Text body | A Display case hero ("Small things, done properly"), the Mix-and-match box ("Fill a box of 12"), "This week's pastries" (4 products), a story with an image ("Butter, flour and patience"), dietary tiles ("For every table": Gluten free, Egg free, Halal), "How ordering works", pickup details ("Collect from Bakers Row") and the newsletter ("A note when the new flavours land") |
The fourth palette, Cocoa (dark chocolate page, sugar-pink blocks with chocolate labels), has no preset of its own: choose it in Theme settings › Colours on any preset.
The presets also differ in these settings. The order ahead ones are demo values for the demo bakeries, so set your own before you publish (chapter 8).
| Setting | Sprinkle | Tier | Patisserie |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heading font (Theme settings › Typography) | Platypi ExtraBold Italic | Gloock | Gilda Display |
| Heading size | 100% | 100% | 104% |
| Show sprinkles (Theme settings › Motion and effects) | On | Off | Off |
| Default lead time (Theme settings › Order ahead) | 2 days | 14 days | 2 days |
| Daily order cutoff | 2 pm | No cutoff | 2 pm |
| Store time zone | Melbourne | Sydney | Perth |
| Closed days and dates | Monday, Tuesday | Sunday, Monday | Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday |
| Pickup time slots | 9 am to 11 am, 11 am to 1 pm, 1 pm to 3 pm | The same | 7 am to 9 am, 9 am to 11 am, 11 am to 2 pm |
All three presets turn on Show quick add button and Show second image on hover (Theme settings › Product cards), which are off when a setting has never been saved, and put the back-to-top button on the right.
Each preset's header and footer carry its own sample words:
- The announcement bar reads "Baked in Daylesford, Victoria", "Order 2 days ahead · Pickup Wed–Sun" and "Cake enquiries" (Sprinkle); "Cakes from Bowral, New South Wales", "Booking cakes now · Tastings on Saturdays" and "Book a tasting" (Tier); or "Baked in Fremantle, Western Australia", "Macarons posted Mondays · Pastries are pickup only" and "Find us" (Patisserie). Rewrite all of it.
- The menu promos sit under a top-level link called Cookies (Sprinkle: "Build a box" and "Start your cake"), Cakes (Tier: "Start your cake" and "Book a tasting") or Macarons (Patisserie: "Fill a box of 12" and "Today's pastries"). If your menu has no link with that title, change the promo's Menu item (chapter 3).
- The footer has a brand column, Shop and Help menu columns, and a "Visit" text column with a sample address and hours.
Every preset's product page has the same buy box: the title with its rating, the price with servings and a seal, the Lead time note, Dietary chips, the Variant picker or Cake builder, Buy buttons, the back-in-stock request, pickup availability, the description and a details table. The Allergens and dietary panel sits under the gallery on every product. Under the page, "Goes well with" and "You may also like" each show four recommended products (chapter 6).
Every preset also ships these templates, which you assign to pages in admin (Online Store › Pages, then the page's Theme template field):
| Template | Use it for | What's on it |
|---|---|---|
page.how-ordering-works | A page that explains how to order | Your page's content, three numbered steps, then pickup details with hours (Sprinkle and Patisserie) and questions and answers (Sprinkle and Tier). A good target for Theme settings › Order ahead › Next pickup link. |
page.contact | Your contact page | The contact form with an order number field and a "Before you write" text column |
page.compare | Side-by-side comparison (chapter 4) | The comparison table |
Every preset also ships product.mix-box, which you assign to a box product in admin (the product's Theme template field). It's the product page with a Mix-and-match box section under it (chapter 10).
The presets' buttons point at all products until you choose your own links, and the announcement bar's link points at /pages/contact. So create a page with the handle contact and the page.contact template, or change that link. Then go through the home page and point each button at the right collection or product.
A fresh install doesn't show these until you've set them up:
- The Mix-and-match box (Sprinkle and Patisserie home pages, and the
product.mix-boxtemplate in every preset) shows a sample in the theme editor and nothing to shoppers until you choose a Flavours collection, and on the home page a Box product (chapter 10). - The Tier home page's cake builder shows nothing to shoppers until you choose a Product in the Featured product section (chapter 9).
- The Cake builder block comes with six sample frosting colours and no add-ons in the presets' templates. Rewrite the colours to match what you pipe, and choose your add-on products, or the add-on step is skipped (chapter 9).
- Dietary chips above a grid need the Search & Discovery filter or fallback collections (chapter 13).
Install
- In Shopify admin, go to Online Store › Themes.
- In the Theme library, click Add theme › Upload zip file and choose the zip of the preset you want. Don't unzip it first.
- When the upload finishes, click Customize to open the theme editor and make it yours.
- When you're ready, click Publish (on the theme's … menu in the library, or from the editor). You can upload a second preset next to it to compare; only the published theme is live.
First steps
- Brand: Theme settings › Brand: your logo, or the shop name as a text wordmark in the heading font, and a favicon.
- Colours and fonts: Theme settings › Colours › Colour palette, then Typography (chapter 2).
- Menus: in admin, Content › Menus: build the main menu and the footer menu (chapter 3). Rename or move the header's menu promos to one of your own top-level links.
- Order ahead: set your Store time zone, Closed days and dates, Default lead time, Daily order cutoff and time slots in Theme settings › Order ahead. Then set up Shopify's own pickup and delivery options to match (chapter 8). This is the step that matters most.
- Product data: create the metafield definitions in chapter 7 and fill them on a few products to see the lead times, dietary chips and allergen statements appear.
- Allergens: check Theme settings › Allergens and dietary › Kitchen statement. Fill in
custom.allergenson every product. You're responsible for this information being accurate (chapter 11). - Custom cakes: tag your cake products
custom-cake, then set up the Cake builder block's flavours, frosting colours and add-ons (chapter 9). - Boxes: create a box product with Box of 6 and Box of 12 variants and a collection of flavours. Tag the product
mix-box, assign it theproduct.mix-boxtemplate, and choose the collection in that template's Mix-and-match box section (chapter 10). - Filters: install Shopify's free Search & Discovery app and add the
custom.dietaryfilter, so the dietary chips can filter (chapter 13). - Real promises: the presets ship with demo words. Rewrite the announcement bar, the hero, "How ordering works", the opening hours, the facts ("From $95", "3 days"), the FAQ answers and the newsletter so they only promise what you offer, and replace the sample testimonials with real ones. The footer's "Visit" column and the pickup section hold a sample address: replace them with yours.
