The three zips are the same theme. A preset only decides the starting palette, heading font, a few settings, the words, the home page, the page templates, and the header and footer, and you can change all of them afterwards. Products, photos and demo text are not included: a fresh install shows your own products, and sections that need a product or an image show samples in the theme editor until you choose one.
Presets
| Preset | For | Palette | Fonts | Home page, in order |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peel | Sticker artists and sticker shops | Bubblegum (white page, bubblegum and lemon lids, cobalt buttons) | Titan One headings, Plus Jakarta Sans body | A Hero ("Stick it on everything", with Shop stickers and Mix a pack), Mix-and-match packs ("Pick 5, pick 10, don't pick favourites"), New drops, Shop by finish (Matte, Glossy, Holo, Clear), See it on spotlight ("Try it on before it's stuck on"), Best sellers, a reviews wall ("Stuck on these") and the newsletter ("Join the sticker club") |
| Washi | Washi tape, pens and planner accessories | Notebook (cream ruled page, coral and pale blue lids, red accent) | Poetsen One headings, Plus Jakarta Sans body | A Hero ("Tape it to everything", with Shop washi and Build a bundle), "New on the shelf", Mix-and-match packs ("Build a bundle of 5 or 10"), a Collections grid ("Shop the cupboard": Washi tape, Gel pens, Planner bits), See it on spotlight ("See it on the page"), "The ones that keep running out", a reviews wall ("Pressed between the pages") and the newsletter ("Join the stationery cupboard") |
| Retro | Enamel pins, patches and stickers | Y2K (deep lilac page, ice-blue and bubble-pink lids, chrome-blue accent) | Tilt Warp headings, Plus Jakarta Sans body | A Hero ("Your new away message", with Shop pins and Shop stickers), "Just uploaded", Shop by finish ("Pick your finish": Holo, Glitter, Glossy, Clear), Mix-and-match packs ("Build your flair board"), See it on spotlight ("Try it on"), "Most forwarded", a reviews wall ("Guestbook") and the newsletter ("Sign the guestbook") |
The fourth palette, Blacklight (near-black page, neon yellow and pink lids with near-black labels), has no preset of its own: choose it in Theme settings › Colors on any preset.
The presets also differ in these settings:
| Setting | Peel | Washi | Retro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Color palette (Theme settings › Colors) | Bubblegum | Notebook | Y2K |
| Page pattern | None | Ruled paper | None |
| Heading font (Theme settings › Typography) | Titan One | Poetsen One | Tilt Warp |
| Heading size | 100% | 104% | 100% |
| Free shipping over (Theme settings › Commerce) | 35 | 40 | 50 |
| Spend this much (Theme settings › Free gift progress) | 20 | 25 | 25 |
| Reward name | Free sticker | Free washi sample | Free sticker |
| Mix pack's Cart property name | Stickers | Rolls | Flair |
All three presets turn on Show quick add button and Show second image on hover (Theme settings › Product cards), which are off when a setting has never been saved, and put the back-to-top button on the right.
Each preset's header and footer carry its own sample words:
- The announcement bar reads "Free sticker over $20 · Free shipping over $35" (Peel), "Free washi sample over $25 · Free shipping over $40" (Washi) or "Free sticker over $25 · Free shipping over $50" (Retro). Those words are plain text. Rewrite them to match your real amounts.
- The menu promos sit under a top-level link called Stickers (Peel: "Mix a pack" and "Holo sheets"), Washi tape (Washi: "Build a bundle" and "Limited rolls") or Stickers and Pins (Retro: "Build your flair board" and "Most forwarded"). If your menu has no link with that title, change the promo's Menu item (chapter 3).
- The footer has a brand column with a sample line, Shop and Help menu columns, and a Follow column with your social icons.
Every preset's product page has the same buy box: Title, Rating, Price, Variant picker, Buy buttons, three Trust rows, Back-in-stock request, Description and Pickup availability. See it on and the Spec table run the full width under it, with "Pairs well with" and "It gets lonely" recommendations below (chapter 6).
Every preset also ships these templates:
| Template | Use it for | What's on it |
|---|---|---|
page.contact | Your contact page | The contact form with an order number field and a "Before you write" text column |
page.compare | Side-by-side comparison (chapter 4) | The comparison table |
product.mix-pack | A mix-and-match pack product | The product page with a Mix-and-match packs section under it (chapter 10) |
product.goods | Anything your default product page's claims don't fit, such as washi, pens and pins in a sticker shop | The product page with plainer Trust rows and Spec rows, and See it on switched off |
Assign a page template in admin under Online Store › Pages, in the page's Theme template field. Assign product.mix-pack and product.goods in the product's Theme template field.
The presets' hero buttons point at all products and the menu promos at /collections/all until you choose your own links, so go through the home page and point each one at the right collection or product.
A fresh install doesn't show these until you've set them up:
- The hero's stickers are sample art that only you see in the theme editor. Shoppers get the lid, the headline and the buttons until the Sticker blocks have images (chapter 4).
- Mix-and-match packs on the home page shows a sample in the theme editor and nothing to shoppers until you choose a Pack product (chapter 10).
- Shop by finish shows nothing to shoppers until its tiles have images (chapter 8).
- See it on spotlight shows nothing to shoppers until you choose a Product and give its scenes images. The product page's See it on block needs scene images too (chapter 9).
One feature does the opposite: the free gift bar is live on a fresh install, before you've set up a gift. It promises the reward in Reward name, and when a shopper reaches it, it says "Free sticker unlocked" while nothing goes in the bag. Choose a gift product and create its discount (chapter 11), or turn off Show the free-gift bar, before you publish.
Install
- In Shopify admin, go to Online Store.
- In the Draft themes section, click Import theme › Upload zip file, choose the zip of the preset you want and click Upload. Don't unzip it first.
- When the upload finishes, click Edit theme to open the theme editor and make it yours.
- When you're ready, click Publish next to the theme in Draft themes, or in the top bar of the theme editor. You can upload a second preset next to it to compare; only the published theme is live.
First steps
- Brand: Theme settings › Brand: your logo, or the shop name as a text wordmark in the heading font, and a favicon.
- Colours and fonts: Theme settings › Colors › Color palette, then Typography (chapter 2).
- Menus: in admin, Content › Menus: build the main menu and the footer menu (chapter 3). Rename or move the header's menu promos to one of your own top-level links.
- The free gift: choose your Gift product, set it to Unlisted, and create its automatic discount, or turn the bar off (chapter 11). This is the step that matters most: until you've done it, the bar promises a gift nobody gets.
- Your amounts: set Spend this much and Free shipping over to your real numbers, or 0 for free shipping if you don't offer it (chapter 2). Then rewrite the announcement bar to match.
- Finish and size: name your product options Finish and Size, or tell the theme what you call them in Theme settings › Finish and size (chapter 8).
- Sticker art: prepare a transparent PNG of your best sellers and fill in
custom.sticker_png(chapter 7). - See it on: add your own scene photos to the See it on block in the product template (chapter 9).
- Packs: create a pack product with Pack of 5 and Pack of 10 variants, and a collection of stickers. Tag the product
mix-pack, assign it theproduct.mix-packtemplate, and choose the collection in that template's Mix-and-match packs section (chapter 10). - Filters: install Shopify's free Search & Discovery app and add the Finish filter, so the finish chips appear above your collections (chapter 13).
- Real promises: the presets ship with demo words, and some of them are claims about your products and your shop. Rewrite or remove all of these so they only say what's true:
- The product page's Trust rows ("Waterproof and dishwasher safe", "Won't fade in the sun for 3 years", "Posted on Tuesdays") and the Spec rows under See it on ("Thick 100 micron vinyl with a laminate on top", "Rain, dishwasher and sun, 3 years outdoors", "Peels off with no residue on laptops and bottles", "Drawn in Brunswick, cut and packed in Melbourne"). Those are Peel's. Washi's are about tape, pens and planner goods, and Retro's about stickers and pins. They show on every product that uses the template, so give anything they don't fit the
product.goodstemplate, whose rows make no claim about a material ("Checked by hand before it's packed", "Desks, bags and gifts"), and check those too. - The reviews walls, which hold sample quotes, and the Peel preset's "4.9 from 2,140 reviews". Replace them with real reviews and your real rating, or delete them.
- The newsletter's offer ("a free sticker on your birthday", "One email a month, and first go at the limited rolls"). The theme doesn't send anything itself (chapter 4).
- The footer's About text (a sample town and posting day), the hero's body text, the Shop by finish notes and the Icon row's words.
