Header, menus and footer
Chapter 3 of the Loot user guide.
The announcement bar and header sit in the Header group at the top of the editor's section list; the footer is in the Footer group at the bottom. They show on every page.
Announcement bar
A bright pop-colored strip above the header, with up to six blocks:
- Announcement: Text, Link, Placement (Message, or Link on the right) and an Icon for messages (None, Lightning bolt, Sparkle, Gem, Truck, Store, Calendar, Gift or Meeple). Links on the right move into the menu on phones.
- Countdown (one per bar): a live countdown in small score tiles. Label ("Next drop:"), Message ("Wave 3, Friday 7 pm"), Label on mobile (replaces both on phones, such as "Next drop in"), End date (format 2026-11-27), End time (24-hour, default 19:00), Time zone (Store time zone, or a UTC offset), Show seconds (on), Link, Icon, and After the deadline: Hide the countdown (default) or Show a message (Message after the deadline, "This drop is live now").
Use a real deadline that is the same for every shopper. Shopify doesn't allow fake countdowns, so don't extend or restart a deadline to create urgency.
Header
The header has two rows. The top row holds the logo (in a tilted tile when you use the text logo and a logo mark), a big centred search field, the Drops chip with a live dot, the sets button, the account link and the cart with its count. The navigation row below holds the menu, with an accent tab under the current item, and an end link on the right.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Menu | Main menu | The navigation row's menu |
| Menu style | Mega menu | Mega menu opens a full-width panel for every top-level link with child links. Dropdown opens a small list. |
| Open menus on hover | On | For shoppers using a mouse. Menus always open on click, tap and keyboard. |
| End link label, End link | Drop calendar | A link at the end of the navigation row, such as your drop calendar page. Both are needed. |
| Show search | On | Search placeholder: leave empty for "Search figures, games, cards…" |
| Sticky header | On scroll up | None, Always, or On scroll up (the navigation row hides while shoppers scroll down and comes back when they scroll up) |
| Drops link | Empty | Shows the Drops chip with a live dot, linking to your drop calendar page. Drops label: "Drops" (the Tabletop and Holo presets say "Releases"). |
| Show sets button | On | The sets icon with the number of sets the shopper tracks. It only shows with Let shoppers track what they own on and a My sets page chosen in Theme settings › Collecting (chapter 10). |
On phones, the menu, the announcement links and the account and localization links move into a menu drawer, and search sits in its own row.
Menu promo blocks add a promo tile to the end of a mega menu panel: an accent tile with a sticker label, a heading, a line of text, a "Shop now" key and an image (a cut-out works best). Set Menu item to the title of the top-level link it belongs to, such as Figures, then Label ("Friday 7 pm"), Heading ("Wave 3 drops in 2 days"), Text, Image and Link. In the menu drawer on phones, the promo shows as a row at the end of that item's group.
Menus
Build menus in admin under Content › Menus. In the main menu, a top-level link with child links opens a mega menu panel. Each child becomes a column with its own links (grandchildren) under it, up to four columns; links that point to a collection with an image show as small image tiles. A child link whose title matches one of your rarity labels (such as "Legendary") gets a gem in that rarity's color, so a "Shop by rarity" column needs no setup beyond the links. A top-level link without children is a plain link.
Footer
The footer is a dark "night" band. It holds these blocks, in any order:
- Newsletter: Heading ("Hear about drops first."), Text, Button label ("Get drop alerts"), Customer tag ("drop-alert": added to everyone who signs up here, so you can email them as a segment) and Show Follow on Shop (off).
- Brand column: Show logo (on), Text and Show social links (on; add the links in Theme settings › Social media).
- Menu column: Heading and Menu. The presets have Shop and Help columns.
- Text column: Heading ("Visit the shop") and Text, for your address and opening hours.
- Social media: Heading ("Follow us") and the icons.
Footer settings: Show country and language selectors (on; set up markets and languages in Shopify admin), Show policy links (on), Show the currency note (on: "All prices in AUD." after the copyright line, in the shopper's currency) and Show payment icons (on).
