The three zips are the same theme. A preset only decides the starting colors, fonts, words, roast schedule, home page, product page, header and footer, and you can change all of them afterwards. Products, photos and demo text are not included: a fresh install shows your own products, and sections that need a product or collection show placeholder cards until you choose one.

Every preset's product page has the origin line, title, tasting notes, price, freshness box, variant picker, stock line, buy buttons starting on Subscription, assurance rows, back-in-stock form, pickup, description, How to brew it and a collapsible row, then Cupping notes, a producer story and two rows of recommendations. Café's default product page leaves out Cupping notes; it keeps them in a second template, product.coffee, for its coffee beans (choose it in a product's Theme template field in admin). The fourth palette, Matcha, has no preset of its own; choose it in Theme settings › Colors on any preset.

Install

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store › Themes.
  2. In the Theme library, click Add theme › Upload zip file and choose the zip of the preset you want. Don't unzip it first.
  3. When the upload finishes, click Customize to open the theme editor and make it yours.
  4. When you're ready, click Publish (on the theme's … menu in the library, or from the editor). You can upload a second preset next to it to compare; only the published theme is live.

First steps

  1. Brand: Theme settings › Brand: your logo (or the shop name), a tagline and a favicon.
  2. Colors and fonts: Theme settings › Colors › Color palette, then Typography (chapter 2).
  3. Menus: in admin, Content › Menus: build the main menu and footer menus (chapter 3).
  4. Real numbers: the presets ship with demo values. Set Theme settings › Cart › Free delivery over to your own threshold, or 0 if you don't offer free delivery, and rewrite the announcement bar, icon row and assurance rows so they only promise what you offer.
  5. Roast schedule: set your real roast days, cut-off and days off (chapter 8), or turn it off.
  6. Coffee data: create the metafield definitions and the Producer metaobject (chapter 7) and fill them on a few products to see the cupping card, stamps and filters come alive.
  7. Subscriptions: install a subscriptions app and create plans (chapter 9). Until then, change any text that promises a subscription discount.
  8. Filters: install Shopify's Search & Discovery app and add your filters (chapter 12).
