Products, photos and the demo text aren't there after I install

They aren't included. The demo stores in the listing photos use our own sample products and renders. Your products appear as soon as you add them, and sections that need a collection or product show placeholders until you choose one.

My product page shows no Crystal properties panel

The panel only shows for a product with at least one of its metafields filled. Check each definition's key is exactly the one in chapter 7 (custom.intentions, not custom.intention; custom.care_note, not custom.care), that it is a Products definition, and that its type matches. Then check the row's Show setting in the Crystal properties block, under the Product section in the theme editor.

My chakras and signs show in a different order from the one I entered

That's on purpose: chakras always read from Root to Crown, and signs from Aries to Pisces, so every product reads the same way.

A sign shows without its glyph, or a chakra with a plain dot

The value isn't one of the choices in chapter 7. Use the English sign names (Aries to Pisces) and the seven chakra names, spelled as they are there; capitals don't matter for the panel. Limiting the definitions to preset choices keeps every product right.

An intention card or a zodiac sign shows every product, not just the matching ones

The filter isn't working yet. Add the Intentions and Zodiac filters in the Search & Discovery app (chapter 9) and give Shopify a little while to index your products. Then check that the card's Filter value (or its name) is spelled exactly as on your products, that the signs on your products are the English names with a capital letter, and that your finder collection (Theme settings › Crystals and rituals › Collection for intention and sign links) holds those products. Or switch the section's Cards and signs lead to to A collection per intention or sign.

The section is set to A collection per intention or sign, and that sign has no collection under Sign collections. Choose one, or switch back to The finder collection, filtered.

There are no intention chips above my collection

The chips need the Intentions filter in Search & Discovery, on the metafield in Theme settings › Crystals and rituals › Intentions filter (custom.intentions), and at least one product in that collection with intentions. Sign chips also need the Collection section's Show zodiac sign chips on.

My cards show only one or two intention chips

Cards show up to Intention chips on cards (3 by default; 2 in Apothecary and Arcana), on at most two lines, and phones show at most two. The product page shows up to six.

My Piece option shows as pills, not photo cards

The option's name must be in Theme settings › Crystals and rituals › Piece option names ("Piece, Specimen" by default; capitals and spaces around the name don't matter). Add your own name there, such as Stone.

Every piece card shows the same photo

Each variant needs its own image: in admin, click the variant and choose that stone's photo. A variant without one shows the product's first image.

A sold piece can still be chosen

A piece shows "Found a home" only when its variant is unavailable. Track its inventory, set it to 1, and turn off Continue selling when out of stock, so the sale takes it to 0.

My Intuitively chosen card doesn't appear, or appears as an ordinary piece

Its value must be spelled as Theme settings › Crystals and rituals › Intuitively chosen value ("Intuitively chosen"; capitals don't matter), and it needs its own variant with stock.

The weight on a piece card is missing, or shows "142.0 g"

Use a Variants definition with the key custom.specimen_weight and the type Weight (chapter 7). Altar rounds to one decimal and drops ".0", so a value of 142.0 g shows as "142 g".

The moon shows a different phase from my moon calendar

Altar names the nearest of the eight principal phases, so "Full moon" shows for about a day and three-quarters either side of the exact full moon, and its mean calculation can be up to about a day off a published table (chapter 10). For an exact time, use a published table.

The moon is lit on the wrong side

Set Theme settings › Crystals and rituals › Moon view to the hemisphere most of your shoppers live in. Auto decides from the shopper's time zone: a time zone named after a city south of the equator draws the southern view, every other one the northern view (a shopper whose computer is set to UTC sees the northern view).

The Moon phase section shows no products

Choose a Collection in each Phase group block, and keep one block for each of New moon, Waxing, Full moon and Waning (chapter 10). To check every group, select its block in the theme editor.

The moon in the header takes shoppers to the top of my home page

It leads to /#moon, the Moon phase section's anchor on your home page. If you removed that section or changed its Anchor, set Theme settings › Crystals and rituals › Moon link to where your moon lives, such as /pages/moon.

The disclaimer shows twice on the product page, or not at all

It shows under the Trust rows and, if its own Show the disclaimer is on, under the Crystal properties block. The presets turn the latter off. If you removed the Trust rows block, turn it on in the Crystal properties block. To hide it everywhere, turn off Theme settings › Crystals and rituals › Show the disclaimer.

The buy box says "Free shipping over $80." but I don't offer it

All three presets set Theme settings › Commerce › Free dispatch over to 80. Set your real threshold, or 0 to hide every free-shipping message (chapter 2), and rewrite the announcement bar and trust rows to match.

The newsletter promises an email at every new and full moon

The theme doesn't send email. Write and send your moon notes from Marketing, or change the Newsletter section's heading and body (chapter 4).

Can I use Altar on more than one store?

Each purchase covers one store. Buy a licence for each additional store (see LICENSE.txt).

How do I update to a new version of Altar?

Updates are provided at Buglyph's discretion and download the same way as your original purchase. Upload the new zip as a new theme and set it up alongside your live one before publishing. Your metafields, products, files, collections, menus, pages and Search & Discovery filters live in your store, not the theme, so they carry over; theme editor changes, including the settings in Crystals and rituals, need to be made again in the new copy.

Does Altar need any apps?

No app is needed for the crystal properties, the intention cards, the zodiac wheel and Find your sign, the moon phase or Pick your piece. Shopify's free Search & Discovery app powers the filters behind the intention cards, the zodiac wheel and the chips, and the complementary products; its free Translate & Adapt app handles other languages. Subscriptions need a subscriptions app, and reviews come from a reviews app of your choice (Altar shows the stars from Shopify's review metafields).
