Altar documentation
Altar is a Shopify theme by Buglyph for crystal and mineral shops, tarot and oracle sellers, witchy apothecaries and astrology brands. It is a celestial almanac laid out on a candlelit altar. The default page is a deep night indigo, and everything is drawn in fine antique-gold linework: products stand in tarot cards (tall 2:3 card faces with small rounded corners, an inset double rule, and a top cartouche that carries the badge the way a tarot card carries its number), and collections, intentions and the moon itself sit in circular moon masks ringed by a hairline orbit with one small planet on it. The ornaments are Altar's own: hand-drawn constellations, a phase row of tiny moons that opens every eyebrow, a star rule between sections, and twelve zodiac glyphs drawn for the theme. Headings are set in Imbue, a tall, condensed serif that stands like the cards do, and everything you read and press is Crimson Pro, a book serif, so the shop reads like an almanac rather than an app. Altar is built for the way your shoppers browse: by intention ("something for calm"), by sign, by the moon, and stone by stone. Its four tools answer them on the page: crystal properties (intentions, chakras, signs, element, how to use and a care warning, on the product page and as chips on cards), shop by intention and sign (intention tarot cards and a twelve-sign zodiac wheel with "find your sign"), a live moon phase with products "for this moon", and pick your piece, which shows one-of-a-kind stones piece by piece, each with its own photo, weight and size.
This guide covers Altar 1.0.0. Every setting name in it is the name you see in the theme editor.
