Product page
Chapter 7 of the Torque user guide.
The product template has four sections: Product (gallery and buy box), Specs and fitment, and two Product recommendations. Product section settings: Show breadcrumbs (on), Enable image zoom (on; adds a zoom button to each image and opens images full screen) and the pre-order options below. The buy-box blocks are listed in chapter 5.
Media
The gallery handles images, videos, YouTube and Vimeo links and 3D models (with a "View in your space" button on supported phones). The selected image sits large on a white well with the cut corner; on desktop the other media sit in a two-column grid of large tiles under it, and on smaller screens in a strip of thumbnails with a "1 of 5" counter. When a shopper picks a variant that has its own image, the gallery moves to it. Add media and assign variant images on the product in your admin.
Variants and swatches
The Variant picker chooses a control per option:
- Swatches for options whose values have a colour or image swatch. Set these up in the product's Category metafields (for example Color) or as option-value swatches in the product's Variants card.
- A dropdown for options with more than eight values.
- Buttons for everything else.
Unavailable combinations stay selectable but are marked, and the price, SKU, stock and spec rows update as the shopper chooses. Products with more than 250 variants are supported: the picker asks Shopify for combinations it doesn't have yet. Theme settings › Product cards › Show swatches shows the first swatch option on product cards too.
Price, tax and stock
The Price block shows the price, the compare-at price and the saving, the unit price (when you set one on the variant) and, with Show tax note on, the tax and shipping line from your checkout settings. The Inventory block shows "In stock" or "Only 3 left" (below the Low stock threshold) for variants whose inventory Shopify tracks.
Pickup availability
The Pickup availability block shows "Pickup available at" your nearest pickup location for the selected variant, with a "Check all 3 locations" link that lists each location's stock. Turn on local pickup in Settings › Shipping and delivery › Local pickup for each location. The block shows nothing when no location offers pickup.
Pre-orders
Two opt-in settings on the Product and Featured product sections. Both are off by default.
- Show oversold variants as pre-orders: for tracked variants that keep selling at zero stock (Continue selling when out of stock on the variant). When the stock reaches 0 or less, the button reads Pre-order and the cart line carries a "Pre-order: Yes" property you can see on the order. Connect a true-or-false product metafield to this setting (the dynamic source icon) to choose per product.
- Show single-delivery purchase options as pre-orders: for products sold only through a pre-order app, using a selling plan that delivers once. Leave it off for try before you buy.
- Pre-order note: shown under the button, for example "Ships in March". Give a date or a range. Connect a product metafield to set it per product.
Subscriptions
When a product has selling plans from a subscription app (such as Shopify Subscriptions), the Buy buttons block shows a "One-time purchase" option and the plans, with each plan's price and any deposit ("$20.00 due today · $80.00 later"). Products that can only be bought on a plan show the plans alone. Turn the list off with Show subscription options.
Gift cards
Gift card products show Shopify's recipient form (email, name, message and send date) so customers can send the card to someone else. Quick add opens quick view for these products so the form can be filled in.
Trade and B2B
With Shopify B2B (on plans that include it), company customers see their own catalogue prices. Torque also shows:
- Quantity rules: one line such as "Minimum 10 · Multiples of 5 · Maximum 100 · 3 in cart" under the quantity selector, and the steppers follow the rules.
- Volume pricing: a panel listing the unit price from each quantity, such as "10+ $4.00" and "50+ $3.60".
- The Quick order list section: a variant table with quantity fields for bulk orders (chapter 4).
Sticky add-to-cart bar
With Show sticky add-to-cart bar on (Buy buttons block), a slim add-to-cart bar slides in once the main button scrolls out of view. It adds exactly what the buy box would.
Quick view
Theme settings › Product cards › Show quick view button adds a button to product cards that opens the gallery, options and buy buttons in a side panel. Quick add opens the same panel for products that need a choice.
