# Markets and languages

Chapter 14 of the Tress user guide.

* **Countries and currencies**: set up markets in admin under **Settings › Markets**. With more than one, the footer and the phone menu show a country/currency selector. Prices, including the length scale's per-length prices and the install builder's totals, convert through Shopify.
* **Languages**: Tress ships in English. Add languages under **Settings › Languages** and translate with Shopify's free **Translate & Adapt** app, which covers the theme's words, your section text, your settings and your metafields. With more than one language published, a language selector appears beside the country selector.
* **Option names in other languages**: the length scale, texture chips, glossary, cap guide and nail sizer find options by name. If you translate an option's name ("Length" to "Longueur"), add the translated name to the matching setting ("Length, Hair length, Longueur"). Translate the values the way the settings expect them: lengths must stay numbers ("18 in" or "45 cm"). **Custom size value** holds a single value, so keep that size value the same in every language, or the custom panel won't appear in the translated store.
* **Maps and tables**: **Texture images**, **Glossary** and **Tip numbers per size** match your option values as the shopper sees them, in their language. Add a line for each translated value to the same setting (`Ondulé: body-wave-swatch.jpg`, `Dentelle HD: Une dentelle fine…`); the lines for every language can sit together, and only the ones matching a value show. The **Cap size table** is different: the cap guide lists every line in it, so keep one set of size names there, and keep your Cap size values in those names for the **Choose** button to match. Shopify swatches follow a value in every language.
* **Lengths and sizes**: the length scale always shows inches and centimetres side by side, so it reads for every market. Nail sizes are plain numbers.
* **Right-to-left languages** such as Arabic and Hebrew mirror the layout, including the back-to-top button's side and the strand waves. Shop the look's hotspots stay where you put them on the photo, because the photo isn't mirrored.
* **Free shipping** messages show only to shoppers paying in your store's currency, because the threshold can't be converted reliably.
* **Countdowns** are absolute moments: every shopper counts down to the same instant.
