# FAQ

Chapter 15 of the Sprinkle user guide.

## Products, photos and the demo text aren't there after I install
They aren't included. The demo stores in the listing photos use our own sample products and renders. Your products appear as soon as you add them, and sections that need a collection or product show placeholders or samples until you choose one.

## Does Shopify stop a shopper from checking out without a date?
No. Shopify checkout doesn't enforce the date. **Require a date before checkout** keeps the **Check out** button off in the bag, but a saved checkout link goes around it. Always check the date on the order (chapter 8).

## The next pickup date is a day out
Check **Theme settings › Order ahead › Store time zone**: the presets use their demo bakeries' zones, and it's separate from your Shopify time zone. Then check **Daily order cutoff** (after it, the count starts tomorrow) and **Closed days and dates**. The header and hero use **Default lead time** on an empty bag.

## A product shows a different lead time from the one I set
Check the definition's key is exactly `custom.lead_days`, that it's a **Products** definition, and that the value is on this product. A bag uses the largest lead time of everything in it, so one slow item moves the first date for the whole order.

## A shopper's date disappeared from the bag
It stopped being possible: a slower item went in, the cutoff passed, they switched to Delivery with **Extra days for delivery** set, or you closed that date. The panel says so and asks for a new one. The theme never moves a date by itself.

## How do I stop taking orders for a day that's full?
Add its date to **Closed days and dates**, such as `2026-11-14`. The theme doesn't count orders, so it can't close a day or a time slot on its own.

## Can I close different days for pickup and delivery?
No: **Closed days and dates** covers both. Each method has its own time slots, and **Extra days for delivery** can make delivery start later.

## Can one size of a cake need more notice than another?
Not directly: `custom.lead_days` is per product, so all its variants share it. Use the longest, or make the big cake its own product.

## A shopper chose Pickup, but the order says Ship
The bag's choice and checkout's are separate (chapter 8). Check the `Fulfilment` attribute and the order's delivery method, and message the shopper if they differ. If you never ship, remove your shipping rates so that **Pick up** is the only choice.

## A shopper wants to change their date
Shoppers can't do that themselves after checkout. Edit it in your own records and tell them. Your FAQ and the `page.how-ordering-works` page are good places to say how to ask.

## Where's the date in the order confirmation email?
It isn't there until you add it. Chapter 8 has the code to paste into the **Order confirmation** notification.

## Buy it now has disappeared
**Theme settings › Order ahead › Hide Buy it now and express buttons** is on, which is the default: those buttons skip the bag, so they skip the date. It's always hidden on cake builder and mix box products.

## The cake builder doesn't show on my cake
Check that the product has the tag in **Theme settings › Cake builder › Cake builder tag** (`custom-cake`), and that the **Cake builder** block is in the template the product uses. On an untagged product the theme editor shows a sample and shoppers see the normal picker.

## There's no frosting step, or no add-ons step
Every preset ships six **Frosting colour** blocks inside the Cake builder block, so the frosting step only goes missing if they've been removed: add them back there. The add-ons step needs products: choose them in **First add-on product** and the two after it. A step with nothing to offer is skipped.

## My add-on doesn't show
It must be **Active**, published to your **Online Store** sales channel and in stock.

## The size cards don't show servings
Use a **Variants** definition with the key `custom.servings`, and fill it on each variant. Without it, the cards show the size and price.

## Where's the customer's inspiration photo?
On the order in admin, in the **Inspiration photo** line under the cake. It's a link to the image.

## A customer's message was refused
It was over the **Message limit**. A paste over the limit is refused whole, with a message, so nothing is cut off silently. Raise the limit in the block (up to 60), or ask them to shorten it.

## The Mix-and-match box doesn't show
Choose both a **Box product** and a **Flavours collection**. On the storefront the section shows nothing until it has both.

## The box says no value has a number
Your box sizes need a digit in them: "Box of 6", not "Half dozen". Check that **Box size option name** matches your option.

## An order for a box came through with no flavours
The box isn't tagged. Add your **Mix-and-match box** tag (`mix-box` by default) to the product and give it the `product.mix-box` template: a tagged box has no ordinary buy buttons, on its page or in quick view, so it can only be added full (chapter 10).

## The price on a flavour row doesn't add up to the box
It isn't meant to. The shopper pays the box variant's price. The row shows the flavour product's own price (chapter 10).

## A product says "Allergens not listed"
That product's `custom.allergens` is empty, or the definition's key is different. Fill it in, or change the words in **When no allergens are listed**. The panel never goes blank, on purpose (chapter 11).

## There are no dietary chips above my collection
The chips need either the `custom.dietary` filter in Search & Discovery, or **Dietary chip** blocks with fallback collections (chapter 13). Check that **Enable filtering** and **Show dietary chips** are on, and that some products in the collection have the value.

## My card shows no button
Turn on **Show quick add button** in Theme settings › Product cards. The presets have it on.

## A card says Choose flavours, but the product isn't a box
Only products with the **Mix box tag** read that. Remove the tag, or change the tag in **Theme settings › Mix-and-match box**. Other products with options read **Choose options**, which you can reword in **Online Store › Themes › … › Edit default theme content**.

## A card shows no lead time
A sold-out card shows only `custom.back_note`, if it has one, because a lead time on something that can't be ordered isn't true. Otherwise check **Show lead time** and that order ahead is on.

## My piped edge has disappeared
Between two pale grounds the front lobes nearly vanish, so set **Piped edge back row** to **Colour block** (chapter 4). The first section on a page and the section after the hero don't show their own edge: the header's hem and the hero's edge are already there.

## The kitchen statement isn't in my footer
It sits in the footer's brand column, so **Show brand column** must be on, and **Kitchen statement** must have words in it.

## The product page says "Free delivery over $80." but I don't offer it
Set **Theme settings › Commerce › Free delivery over** to your real threshold, or 0 to hide it. Rewrite your announcement bar to match.

## The newsletter promises an email on Tuesdays
The theme doesn't send email. Write and send it from **Marketing**, or change the Newsletter section's heading and body (chapter 4).

## Can I use Sprinkle on more than one store?
Each purchase covers one store. Buy a licence for each additional store (see LICENSE.txt).

## How do I update to a new version of Sprinkle?
Updates are provided at Buglyph's discretion and download the same way as your original purchase. Upload the new zip as a new theme and set it up alongside your live one before publishing. Your metafields, products, tags, collections, menus, pages and Search & Discovery filters live in your store, not the theme, so they carry over. Theme editor changes, including your **Order ahead** settings and the Cake builder block, need to be made again in the new copy.

## Does Sprinkle need any apps?
No app is needed for order ahead, the cake builder, the mix box or the allergen panel. Shopify's free Search & Discovery app powers the dietary filter and the complementary products, and its free Translate & Adapt app handles other languages. Subscriptions need a subscriptions app, and ratings come from a reviews app of your choice.
