# FAQ

Chapter 15 of the Ribbon user guide.

## Products, photos and the demo text aren't there after I install
They aren't included. The demo stores in the listing photos use our own sample products. Your products appear as soon as you add them, and sections that need a collection or product show placeholders until you choose one.

## Only the first paragraph of my product description shows
The presets turn on **Show only the first paragraph** in the Description block, so the buy box stays short. Turn it off in the theme editor (open a product page, select the **Description** block in the Product section), or put the rest of your details in the Collapsible rows under it.

## Why don't I see the fit scale, the model line or my own size chart?
They come from metafields you create once (chapter 7) and fill on each product. Check the keys are exactly `custom.fit`, `custom.model_info` and `custom.size_chart` (Shopify suggests a key from the name you type, and keys are case-sensitive), that Fit is a whole number from 1 to 5, and that your Size chart definition has **Storefronts** access and its entries are **Active**. In the theme editor, a product with no fit and no model line shows a sample tagged "Sample"; shoppers never see it.

## Every product shows the same size chart
That's the Fit and size block's **Default size chart**, used for every product without its own `custom.size_chart`. Create Size chart entries (chapter 7) and pick one on each product, or edit the default to your shop's chart.

## There are no size pills, or the Size guide link is missing
Size pills need a product option named in **Theme settings › Sizing and fit › Size option names** ("Size" by default). If your option is called something else ("Talla", "Shoe size"), add that name. An option with more than 10 sizes shows as a menu instead, and the card's quick add shows size pills for up to 8 sizes. The Size guide link needs a **Fit and size** block in the section, and a chart.

## "Choose M" doesn't appear after Find my size
The chart's first column must match your size option's values (capitals don't matter): a chart with "Small" won't find a size called "S". There's no Choose button on the size guide page, because it has no product.

## Find my size isn't in my size guide
It needs columns whose headers contain bust (or chest), waist or hip, and **Show Find my size** on in the block (or the Size guide section). A chart such as `Size | Foot length` shows the table only.

## Wear it with doesn't show on a product
The section hides itself when it finds nothing. Give the product a **Wear it with** metafield (`custom.wear_it_with`), or add complementary products in the Search & Discovery app (chapter 10). Pieces already in the shopper's bag are skipped, so a bag holding every pairing shows none.

## The Shop the look button and list don't show
They need at least one piece with a product. Choose a **Product** in each Piece block. A piece with only a title shows a dot and a text card.

## My Next drop doesn't show on my store
The presets ship the Next drop section without a date, so it shows only in the theme editor (as a sample) until you set one. Set your own **Date**, **Time** and **Collection** in the Next drop section, or remove it until your next drop (chapter 11).

## My Next drop says "The drop is live" and shows all my products
Its date has passed, and the presets point it at the "all products" collection. Set the **Date** and **Time** of your next drop and choose the drop's **Collection** (chapter 11).

## A customer bought a product that was still Coming soon
Gating is presentation only: it hides the buttons on your Online Store, but a published product can still be added to the cart with a direct link. To keep a drop private, leave its products unpublished until the drop opens.

## Who sends the Notify me email?
You do. The form adds the shopper to **Customers** with the tags `newsletter` and `drop-` plus the collection's handle; when the drop opens, email those customers, for example with Shopify Email.

## The Back in stock badge doesn't show
The product needs the tag in **Theme settings › Product cards › Back in stock tag** (`restocked`) and must be available to buy.

## There's no "2 left" on a size that's nearly gone
"2 left" shows only when Shopify tracks the variant's inventory, the variant stops selling at zero (Continue selling when out of stock is off), and its stock is between 1 and **Theme settings › Sizing and fit › Low stock at or under** (3; 0 turns it off).

## I chose the split header but see the classic one
Split switches to classic by itself when the menu has more than 8 top-level links, the shop name is longer than 18 characters, the logo is set wider than 240px, or the screen is 1100 to 1279px wide (chapter 3).

## My menu promo doesn't show
Promos show in mega menu panels only: the top-level link needs two levels of children (chapter 3), and the promo's **Menu item** must be that link's title, with a **Heading**. Each link shows at most two.

## Can I use Ribbon on more than one store?
Each purchase covers one store. Buy a licence for each additional store (see LICENSE.txt).

## How do I update to a new version of Ribbon?
Updates are provided at Buglyph's discretion and download the same way as your original purchase. Upload the new zip as a new theme and set it up alongside your live one before publishing. Your metafields, size charts, products, collections, menus and pages live in your store, not the theme, so they carry over; theme editor changes need to be made again in the new copy.

## Does Ribbon need any apps?
No app is needed for Shop the look, the fit scale, the size guide and Find my size, Wear it with (from your own pairings), drops, Coming soon, Notify me or the back-in-stock and low-stock signs. Shopify's free Search & Discovery app powers filters and complementary products, and its free Translate & Adapt app handles other languages. Subscriptions need a subscriptions app, and reviews come from a reviews app of your choice (Ribbon shows the stars from Shopify's review metafields).
