# FAQ

Chapter 12 of the Derma user guide.

## Are the demo products and photos included?
No. The presets include the layout and demo text only. Your store shows your own products and images, and you replace the demo copy and figures with your own.

## Why is the Formula band empty on my product?
It reads the product's `derma` metafields. Create the definitions (chapter 7, Step 3) and fill in at least `derma.actives`, `derma.inci`, `derma.strength` or `derma.formula_notes`. The editor shows a note listing what's missing.

## Why don't the How to use, ingredient and patch test accordions show?
They ship unconnected. Connect them to `derma.directions`, `derma.inci` and `derma.patch_test` (chapter 6).

## The skin quiz shows nothing, or no matches
Check that (1) a Concern answer has a collection or the section has a fallback collection, (2) the Search & Discovery filters exist, and (3) the answers' filter values match your product values exactly. With no matches the quiz widens the search on its own and says so.

## The "Take the skin quiz" links have disappeared
They show only when Theme settings › Skin and formula › "Skin quiz page" is set to an existing page. That includes Hero buttons that link to the quiz page, and the "The skin quiz takes a minute" line in the empty bag.

## Clinical results don't show
The study needs a `summary`. The before and after also needs both images and a `caption` (chapter 8).

## The Routine section is empty on a product page
With "Build from the product" on, the product needs `derma.routine_step`, and its complementary products (Search & Discovery) need one too; shoppers see it once there are two steps. Or add Step blocks by hand.

## How do I update to a new version of Derma?
Updates are provided at Buglyph's discretion and download the same way as your original purchase. Upload the new zip as a new theme and set it up alongside your live one before publishing. Your metafields, metaobjects, products, collections and pages live in your store, not the theme, so they carry over unchanged; theme editor changes need to be made again in the new copy.

## Can I use Derma on more than one store?
Each licence covers one store. Buy a licence for each additional store. See `LICENSE.txt`.

## Does Derma need any apps?
No. Shopify's free Search & Discovery app powers filters, the quiz and complementary products, and its free Translate & Adapt app handles other languages. Star ratings and subscriptions come from a reviews or subscription app of your choice.
